THE LIGHTNING TALKS:

Google App Engine For Java Developers by Judes Tumuhairwe

In this whirlwind tour of Google App Engine for Java Developers, Judes Tumuhairwe will start with what Google App Engine is, and how it differs from the other major cloud computing offerings available today (i.e. Amazon Web Services EC2, Microsoft's Windows Azure and Apple's iCloud). This introduction will then briefly cover Google App Engine's architecture and the services it provides.

Judes Tumuhairwe is a developer and entrepreneur. He is founder of a micro-ISV Tooro Systems. When he is not working at Ford Motor Company as a J2EE consultant, he's at home developing Java applications or participating on open-source mailing lists. Before Ford, he worked at the Wisconsin DOJ building a law enforcement application. He's currently developing an online academic records system with Spring and EJB3, JPA/Hibernate on JBoss 5. He enjoys reading books on software craftsmanship and entrepreneurship.

Google Native Client by Don Ward

In another whirlwind tour, Don Ward will cover what Google Native Client is and what it is not. Don Ward will cover the use cases suggested by Google for Native Client and how it is being used in the wild. All of this will be followed up with a quick overview of how Google implemented Native Client to run in the browser.

Don Ward is a software developer and event organizer in the Detroit Metro area. Being part of the mobile app team at Quicken Loans, he is passionate about Google technologies and the cool things Google has released in the wild. In his spare time, he helps organize software developer events in the Detroit Metro area.

State and Stateful Code by Onorio Catenacci

What is "state" and why is it important?  Why is it even more
important when interacting with web API's?  This is what Onorio will
discuss in this lightning talk.

Onorio Catenacci  is a software developer of about 25 years.  He has worked with C++, C#, Scala, Clojure and a smattering of other languages over the years.  Currently he leads the F# Special Interest Group in
conjunction with the Great Lakes Area .Net Users' Group. He also
volunteers with the Oakland County 4-H and owns a few birds.
